What Men Really Mean When They Say They're Not "Ready". Every guy has done this at some point in their lives. I'm the Average Guy and I've done it, too. I met a really nice girl that I thought I could date for a while and after three or more dates, I decided I wanted to sleep with her. The problem? She wasn't ready to sleep with me.

So in typical guy fashion, I gave her the brush-off the only way I knew how. I told her I wasn't "ready" for a relationship with her. What did I REALLY mean? I meant that I wasn't ready to be in a relationship with her because she wouldn't sleep with me. I know, don't start flaming me on the site. I'm just telling it like it is.

Most of the time when a guy uses the "I'm not ready" excuse what he really means is that he's not willing to pursue a relationship with that particular woman for a variety of reasons. Something she does might annoy him, maybe she won't have sex with him until the 40th date (which is way too long to wait, by the way) or maybe she doesn't like children and he's got a kid.

There's all kinds of reasons, but the bottom line is when a guy says he's not "ready" what he really means is that he's just not ready to date you, but he's definitely open to dating other girls that strike his fancy.
